What is Success?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 11:57 pm

With a daily struggle to feel successful in this life, I am grateful for these humbling words:

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people, and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;

To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.

  1. About the time I was struggling with the decision of resigning and being a stay at home mom I remember hearing these words play over and over in my head. I do not remember when I first read this or at what point it was burned in my memory but each day that passed at work I began to question if my accomplishments there were what would ultimately define my success.
    We may have to live leaner now, and climb harder to get back on top later. But for now we are truly blessed to have an opportunity to be successful at the most important job we will ever have.
