Running to Stand Still Just another day in the life….

Hint, hint?

We decided after looking at numerous properties in CA, that it will be well worth it to trade square footage for the ability to walk to the beach. With that being said, I don’t think we are truly prepared to squeeze four people and two giant dogs into a 1,000 sq. foot bungalow. That may be why my husband sent me this article the other day.
I do believe it will be a challenge; but my game plan is simple and quite brilliant, I must say :-) We divide our current house imaginarily (is that a word?) in half. We put everything we “need” in one half, and the remainder in the other half. We then put the “need” section in the moving truck, and the remainder section we donate. Wah-lah…problem solved!
Thanks Jon for the article, but I’ve got this situation completely under control. :-)

  1. Great plan Kari! A better plan though is to put the donation stuff in a moving truck and send it to my address because I know you have some good style! LOL. Does this mean you sold the house?

  2. I was continually shocked when we first moved to Ca. from Texas … wait until you have to register the car … it typically runs about $695 and today I paid $4 for a gallon of regular gas … but I do walk to the beach every day and this past week we have seen several harbor seals give birth 😉

  3. Trust me Sarah, you don’t want our stuff! And unfortunately, we have not yet sold our house. We just have to start getting things packed for the move in May.

You’re right Julie, I’m sure we are going to have sticker-shock for quite awhile. Our plan is to just not drive once we move!! :-)

  4. Hey Kari! You probably didn’t even know I visit your blog!! I am so jealous you are moving to CA! I lived in Santa Barbara for 4 years – 5 minutes from the beach – and it was so amazing!! There is major sticker shock but it is beautiful there!! What an exciting adventure!!
