The other Colorado.

The girls and I had a lot of fun today hanging out at “the other Colorado.”  Great food, fun toys, and of course, lots of story time.

Locks of Love.

I decided that going a year without a haircut was a little too long.
So after the girls were in bed, Jen and I headed out to get haircuts.
I’ve heard a lot about “Locks of Love,” and thought it would be fun to chop my hair and donate it to such a great organization.
After it was all said and done, I had somewhere between 12-14 inches chopped off.   What a great feeling!
Next year it will be Jen’s turn!

Operation blankie rescue

This morning I took the girls up to Denver to see a friend of mine Carissa, and her little girl, Sera.  Carissa and I worked together while I was pregnant with Irelynd, and Carissa with Sera (they were born within a month of each other). During those nine months, Carissa and I formed many common bonds; swollen ankles, lunchtime naps, and devouring giant bowls of chocolate custard–to name a few.  So it was a lot of fun today to have the chance to catch up and reminisce about old times.
This trip, though, did involve a bit of blankie drama.   When we were halfway back down to C. Springs, Irelynd asked for her blankie.  I knew right away she had left it and we were in big trouble.  We were already thirty minutes into the hour drive home, so I didn’t want to turn around. I told Irelynd we would get it later.  Not the right thing to say to a little girl that is literally lost without her blankie…she was hysterical.  I got her back to N & P’s house and Nana convinced her to lay down for her nap with an “alternate” blankie.  It took some serious convincing, but she finally laid down and eventually fell asleep.   While she was napping I got a hold of trusty auntie Jen who ended up saving the day.  She picked up blankie and had it down to Irelynd just as she woke up from her nap.  Irelynd was stuck to Jen like glue for the rest of the day…her blankie savior!

Camp Bow Wow.

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 11:24 am
I have done something I swore I would never do….kennel my dogs. In all of Kobi’s nine years, and Owen’s six, they have never been kenneled. We have always figured out a way to avoid it…until now. I am out of town and Jon will be away for the next few days. We had several sweet friends offer to help; but with possible house showings and such, it would have been too complicated. So before I left, I scouted out some kennels and decided on Camp Bow Wow. I know, could the name be any cheesier? It’s not what I envisioned as the perfect place to leave my dogs, but it came highly recommended by our vet and what eventually sold me were the “camper cams.” I can watch what my dogs are doing 24 hours a day via the internet! Pretty funny.
Jon dropped them off this morning and so far Kobi has been laying down in the same spot, moping…and Owen just paces around the facility…occasionally going to check on Kobi.
I’m honestly not watching them constantly, but every time I check on them they’re doing the same thing. My poor boys. Hopefully they will forgive me when I get back. :-(

Irelynd’s Colorado(s)

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 10:25 pm
According to Irelynd, there are two Colorados.  Nana and Papa Angelbeck are one Colorado, and Nana and Papa Lorenzen encompass her other Colorado.  She’s a little confused, but very in love with her Nanas and Papas (and Colorado).
Today Irelynd and Haidyn got to spend a little time with ALL of Colorado :-)  Play time with both sets of grandparents in one day…two spoiled and loved little girls for sure!

Kicked out.

The girls and I are in Colorado for a couple weeks.  Jon couldn’t take my cleaning craziness anymore.  The last week-and-a-half I have been a cleaning maniac.  I have been driving everyone crazy; following them around making sure the house is spotless in case we have a showing.   I’ve decided that I’m much like Monica on “Friends.”  I’ve been heading that direction for quite awhile, but placing the house on the market has put me over the edge.  I can’t stop cleaning!!  Now I am rehabing at my parent’s house….what better place to NOT clean for a couple weeks?! :-)

Irelynd made this adorable birdhouse at school last week. Her teacher was so proud of her (don’t tell, but she said it was her favorite :-). Apparently she did everything on it herself with “minimal” help. Love it!!

We have some news….big news (no, I’m not pregnant)!!
We are moving.  We put our house on the market last week, and we are headed to sunny San Diego.  We have been blessed with an amazing opportunity to join some friends of ours in an exciting business venture.  Although this has been on the horizon for a number of years, just recently God completed the path that has allowed us to take this major leap of faith.
And Deborah, I am happy to inform you that there is no longer a need to worry about my developing “accent!”
