Six months

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 12:03 am
Yesterday was Haidyn’s six-month birthday. Irelynd insisted that Haidyn have a proper half-birthday; complete with singing and cake.
My sweet Haidyn Grace, how you make me smile. Has it really already been six months? You are at such a fun age…so many things I want to remember about you at this age.
You are a completely content baby; that is as long as you are being held, and maintain “center of attention status.” As soon as you lose that status, the entire neighborhood is made aware. For the longest time, your daddy and I would come running when you let out your signature scream. We’ve finally learned, it’s just your way of letting us know you’re still around.
You love, love, love to be cuddled, held, and kissed. Your daddy and I can’t seem to give you enough hugs and kisses. As soon as we stop, you take your little hands and pull at our faces for more.
You adore Kobi and Owen. When they walk by, you smile and try your best to grab a handful of their fur in an attempt to pull them close to you. You would hug them if you could!
Your favorite toy is a little bug thing that has crinkly material stuffed inside. You love crinkly stuff….plastic bags, wrappers, etc….all the things babies should never get their hands on and some how you have (way to go mom).
Your sleep habits are a work in progress. My exhausted body is still waiting for you, little one, to sleep through the night! Most nights you wake up three times to nurse…on a bad night it’s five; a good night, two. Naps are also a battle. I can tell you think you’re missing out on something when I lay you down for nap time, especially if you happen to hear your sister in the other room.
Speaking of your sister; you think Irelynd hung the moon. You adore her and she adores you. You look for her as soon as you wake, and Irelynd will not go to bed without kissing your sweet, little head. When she yells, you yell. When she laughs, you laugh. You get upset when she’s upset. i pray daily that God will keep the bond between you and your sister strong and full of love.
Our little Haidyn, you are such a precious gift from God. Your daddy and I love you with all that is in us. I could go on and on about how special you are and all the things I love about you. More than anything, though, I pray you will come to know the Lord at an early age, and make it your desire to serve Him. I love you beautiful girl!
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

I try and devote my time to house cleaning duties the two mornings that Irelynd has school. It only took me four ceiling fans and three toilets later to realize what really needed cleaning!
Don’t worry, she’s not eating it! :-)

5 miles, 6 years

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 8:46 pm
This morning, my wonderful husband (of six years today), woke up at the crack of dawn, loaded up the girls, and came to cheer me on for yet another race. The race today was The Wurst Run 5 Miler. Instead of wine and cheese; beer and bratwurst awaited us at the finish line. Irelynd had a great time hanging out with daddy and Haidyn while I was running. She got to feed ducks, watch the trains go by, and dance to some amusing polka music.
Pre-race hug
Irelynd made sure Haidyn had a front row seat for the big start
Feeding the ducks “Clifford Crunch.”
I have to say I was excited about running 5 miles under 35 minutes. Don’t know, though, if the feeling that you’re about to die at the end is worth it! :-)
Irelynd loved dancing to the “Oma and the Ooompah’s” music.
The girls are finally asleep, and we are now going to enjoy our anniversary dinner (no, Jon did not help me with the sushi…just the pb pie :-)

“Who are you…

…and what have you done with Irelynd?”  I’ve found myself saying this the past few mornings as I go to get Irelynd out of bed.  Of course she replies, “I AM Irelynd!!”
Doesn’t she look so grown up?  Must be the big girl bed….I think I will move her back into a crib.
