Arrival and departure

I’m happy to report that I survived my very first “away from the kids” trip.  It was a fun trip and the wedding was beautiful (pictures tomorrow).  I did my best to relax and I only called home about ten times the entire trip :-)!  Jon and my parents did a wonderful job with the girls….just as everyone told me a million times before I left, “you have nothing to worry about, everything will be fine!”
Now it’s Jon’s turn.  He leaves tomorrow for a fun-filled week in Taiwan….if you call flying for 20 hours to walk around factories for a week fun.

Goodbye until Saturday

I leave for Mexico tomorrow morning without my computer, so no blogging for me until I return.  It’s been a crazy past couple of days trying to get everything in order before I leave.  Haidyn seems extra clingy lately, and Irelynd came down with some kind of cold/flu thing  which both make me even more hesitant to leave.  I know, I know….they will be fine….will I, though?!

The cavalry has arrived

Nana and Papa Angelbeck arrived yesterday ready to help Jon take on the challenge of taking care of Irelynd and Haidyn during my upcoming trip (I’m a bridesmaid in Jen’s destination wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico).  Haidyn took a bottle tonight from my mom which is a HUGE step in the attempt to ease my anxious mind about leaving my kids for the first time.  Now the next challenge will be convincing me to get on the airplane Wednesday morning!

Train party

Yesterday morning, Irelynd’s friend Jake had a special train party for his second birthday.  It took Irelynd a little while to warm up to the whole train ride thing, but once she figured out she could take some food with her on the ride, she was good to go.  Of course, though, the cake and ice cream was her favorite part.  First one to the cake table as usual!

Detour

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 10:19 pm
Our dear friend Jodi, (who was in Houston on business for the day), took a 2 1/2 hour detour this afternoon to come and visit us.  Irelynd loves having company, and didn’t leave Jodi’s side the entire time she was here.  Irelynd even conned Jodi into singing her “You are my Sunshine,” “Jesus Loves Me” bedtime medley.

Love this!

My father-in-law arrived safely back from Africa.  He has some great pictures and stories to share on his blog….but I couldn’t resist posting this picture of him with his grandchildren (Zeke is the little boy sitting is his lap, and Kora, his twin sister, is the little girl standing a few feet back taking it all in).  Too cute!

My friend Suzie, who knows how much I miss the beautiful Colorado mountains, sent me this picture she took last weekend while up at the Maroon Bells. Fall and winter are the two hardest seasons living in Texas. No beautiful fall colors, and no snow….yes, I’m one of those weirdos who LOVES snow.
