Irelynd wanted to “be like Haidyn” today….isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? :-)

“Listen to me”

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 6:41 pm
This morning, Irelynd sat next to Haidyn on the couch and said “listen to me read Haidyn!”  Haidyn was very interested to hear about Disney “princesses.”

Joanna and Taylor returned safe and sound from Sierra Leone.  They have posted some amazing pictures, and continue to share thoughts and stories from their trip.  Joanna sent me some more pictures of Sallay, the beautiful girl we sponser in Sierra Leone.  Joanna said that Sallay “has the best smile, and is a joy to be around.” So excited that Joanna and Taylor had the opportunity to meet Sallay, and give this special girl some love and attention.

I thought Haidyn resembled Irelynd until I compared their pictures.

My sweet little girl. Sorry I haven’t been as patient recently as I probably should be. I know things have changed so much for you, and you have handled this transition so well. Right now baby Haidyn is so little, and she requires a lot of mommy’s time and attention. I wish I could hold you longer when you say “hold her,” and I wish I could “put baby down” when you ask me to play “stickers” with you. I wish, when you ask me to sing “sunshine,” I could sing it to you a million times. You have been the center of my world for the last two years, and I pray you do not feel that now I am neglecting you. Please know that I love you so much, and pretty soon things will start to seem normal again. You are a constant source of joy to me, and your smile melts my heart even on my darkest day. You are a wonderful big sister, and Haidyn is so fortunate to have you to teach her everything you know. I know you will read this one day and not remember these long and tiring days….but I will always remember and cherish these days.
I love you so much, sweet little girl!

It has been HOT here (surprise, surprise), but we are fortunate to have gracious friends who have been more than kind to let us swim in their refreshing pools.

No question why God made babies cute….so we can survive on four hours of sleep and not be upset about it.

No rest for the weary

I was more tired than normal today, so the intention for this evening was to be in bed, asleep, by 10 p.m.  Gave Haidyn a bath at 9:00, started feeding her at 9:30 and by 10:15 she had projectile vomited everything in her tummy.  Cleaned her up, nursed her again, and it is now 11:00 and I am pacing the house with Haidyn strapped in the Bjorn hoping for a quick way to get her to sleep.  New goal is to be in bed, asleep, by midnight.

Father’s Day 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 10:48 pm
I hope these two little girls will recognize at an early age that they have been blessed with an absolutely incredible father.
Im gonna watch you shine
Gonna watch you grow
Gonna paint a sign
So youll always know
As long as one and one is two
There could never be a father
Who loved his daughter more than I love you
