Rare occasion that Irelynd and I match…even more rare that I’m not wearing jeans and a t-shirt.

Craziness

I got up at 6:15 this morning to go with a friend to register our girls for a two-day/week pre-school program. Registration didn’t start until 9:00, but apparently it is common practice around here to take a chair and a pot of coffee, and camp-out in front of the door to ensure a spot in the school. My friend and I were actually first to arrive, but not a minute later, cars started pulling up. It was really funny when the third car to arrive was two men whose wives had sent them to wait in line! I guess I should be thankful for having friends “experienced” in this area, because Irelynd actually got the last spot for the 2-year-old program (which doesn’t even start until next September)!! Ah, the things I’m learning:-)

“I long to worship Jesus with the heart of a child, in a state of pure and true adoration. Yet so many things of the world cloud my thoughts and pull on my heart until it’s no longer just a girl in the arms of the Father”

Dreaded doctor visit

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 12:04 pm
I honestly dread going to the OB doctor during pregnancy.  It’s not that I don’t love the reassurance of hearing the baby’s heart beat and the doctor telling me everything looks good; my reason actually sounds quite stupid and shallow.  But honestly, I don’t say this in a vain manner, and I think most mothers understand.  I just hate stepping on that stupid doctor office scale.  It’s always a million pounds over what the home scale reads…how is that possible?  To make matters worse, today I got the weight gain lecture….”most women have gained this much at this point and you have gained this many pounds more”…thanks for the encouragement, doc!
No more chocolate cake for me :-(

Reading an incredible book with my bible study group and some family members. Honestly a life-changing book: The Irresistible Revolution….check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
“It’s no wonder that the footsteps of Jesus led from the tax collectors to the lepers. I truly believe that when the poor meet the rich, riches will have no meaning. And when the rich meet the poor, we will see poverty come to an end.”

Where’s the warm?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 3:38 pm
In my opinion, south Texas shouldn’t be cold enough for this type of hat. I know I’ll soon regret saying this, but I’m so ready for some warm weather.

Mind boggling

ONE.org on Trade Justice:
“In 1980 Africa had 6% share of world trade. By 2002 this had dropped to just 2% despite the fact that Africa has 12% of the world’s population. If Africa could regain just an additional 1% share of global trade, it would earn $70 billion more each year, several times more than what the region currently receives in effective international assistance.Poor countries cannot trade their way out of poverty without a level playing field. Right now, trade rules are so skewed that cows in Europe receive more a day in subsidies than half the population of Africa.”
