Soccer ball moon

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 7:48 pm
Since we have had temps in the upper 70’s, low 80’s the past few days, we decided tonight we would eat our dinner outside on our back patio.  As we were eating, Irelynd all of a sudden looked up at the moon that had just started to come out and said, “soccer ball!”  It’s obviously the first time she’s noticed the moon, and I couldn’t be more proud :-)

On a lighter note…

I decided today that Irelynd has had enough of her splint and took it off for the day. She seems to be doing great, so I hope I don’t kick myself here in a few days and the elbow dislocates again. I’ll probably put it back on tomorrow, but I thought I’d give her a day to enjoy both her arms and have a little fun.
(Nana: Irelynd loves her new bibs and insists on wearing them as part of her outfit)!!

Crazy day

Our Vice President was almost killed today and the Dow finished the day down 415 points, the biggest loss since 9/11. (Not really exciting blog news; more for posterity sake if I ever turn this blog into a scrapbook).

Nursemaid’s elbow

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 10:16 pm
It’s official: I am the winner of the “worst mother of the year award.” Spent the last two days taking Irelynd to and from the doctor for nursemaid’s elbow (dislocated elbow). She was fine one moment, and the next, crying and holding her arm to her side. Fortunately, my mom still has connections at the pediatric office where she worked as an RN, so we go her in right away to see the doctor. He diagnosed her with nursemaid’s elbow, popped her elbow back into place, and sent us home. This morning, it was dislocated again, so back we went to the doctor. They popped it back in again, and then sent her for x-rays. Fortunately, the x-ray came back negative for any fractures, so they put a pretty, pink splint on her arm, showed me how to pop it back into place for “the next time it happens,” and sent us home for a second time. Irelynd was such a trooper through this whole thing; she’s one tough little girl….and very proud of her “cast.” Still cannot figure out what made the original dislocation occur. How can a child dislocate her elbow and her mom not even know how it happened?  Way to go me.

Catching up

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 9:47 pm
Got the chance today to see one of my very good childhood friends and her kids.  We basically did everything together growing up, and have many wonderful and humorous memories.  We had fun catching up and reminiscing about “the good ‘ol days!”

Papa gone wild

I dropped Irelynd off at Nana and Papa Lorenzen’s house today while I ran some errands with a friend. When I returned, this is how Papa looked after chasing Irelynd around all day!! :-)

Only joking….they had a great time, and as you can see, Jay taught me some very “important” things I can do with a Mac!

Fun farm!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 11:23 pm
Last Christmas, Irelynd’s cousin Grant gave her a farm that he used to play with when he was a little boy. It is a such a cute farm, with lots of animals, wagons, and little wooden people. We keep it at Nana and Papa’s house so she has something to play with when she comes to visit. Irelynd loves this farm, and can sit and play with it for hours….thank you Grant and Deborah for this great gift!!
