Irelynd has a very unique “blankie.”  It’s not the cutesy, boutique blankie that I envisioned her carrying around; in fact, it’s not really a blankie at all.  Instead, Irelynd’s blankie is an old, worn out, Gap shirt of mine that she found in the laundry basket one day.  Ever since that day, this special shirt has become her “blappie.” She rarely loses sight of her makeshift blankie, and it has become impossible to put her down for a nap or to sleep at night without it.  When she gets tired, she holds it tight, sticks it up to her nose, and takes a big whiff of who knows what?!  Could be worse; at least it’s not a pair of underwear! :-)

Not like I live and exciting life or anything, but lately life has felt unusually boring.  One of these days there will be some excitement down here that I can blog about…stay tuned. :-)

For my Nanas

I sure miss you both! I remember when I was just a little baby, and you would take turns to come and take care of me while mommy went to work. I sure miss playing with you…mommy is just not as much fun!

Our big eater

It never ceases to amaze us how much food Irelynd can put away.  We are equally impressed with how lady-like she is as she puts it away!

Irelynd and “Owni”

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 8:28 pm
Irelynd loves Owen. She calls him Owni, and she loves it when he “kisses” her. Owen equally loves the attention Irelynd shows him. “Kogi”, on the other hand, could really care less!
…more kisses!

The other day, I watched an intriguing special on Vincent Van Gogh. Before watching this I knew the basic story of his life, but I never knew the actual details of his life and tragic death. I’m fascinated by the fact that someone so talented, and ultimately “brilliant,” could not see or understand his own genius. One of my favorite works by Van Gogh, Red Vineyards, I learned, was the only work sold during his lifetime. Okay, now maybe it’s the hormones or something, but I was reaching for the tissues after hearing that the last words he ever spoke were, “The sadness will last forever.”
Gotta love PBS specials!

Bye Nana Jen

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 8:10 pm
I guess Irelynd now has three nana’s….Nana Lorenzen, Nana Angelbeck, and Nana Jen!  Jen’s official name was “Nana” for her entire visit.  As we dropped Jen off at the airport tonight, Irelynd said “bye-bye Nana.”  Sorry Jen, but those two gray hairs must really age you!! :-)  Thanks for visiting us, we had a great time!

Five years

For the most amazing husband, incredible father, and loyal friend...all my love
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Visit from Auntie Jen

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 5:20 pm
My friend since the 8th grade, Jen, took some time away from her busy job as a Target Store Manager to come down and visit us.  We are looking forward to hanging out together for the next few days!  Irelynd is thrilled to have someone new to read her stories!
