It’s a Miracle!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 8:50 am

Just as it took Irelynd until her first birthday to decide that is was time to crawl, she kept us guessing when she would decide it was time to walk on her own. She has been walking for several months holding our hand or pushing her toys; but until yesterday, she refused to walk on her own. I know it probably didn’t help that I pretty much carried her everywhere for the first year of her life. But how could I refuse, when she would reach her little arms up and give that pitiful “please pick me up” look?! Whatever the reason, I believe she finally just decided that getting to the kitchen to get her beloved crackers was important enough to walk!

Major Milestone

Irelynd reached a major milestone today…unfortunately my grand plan for revealing this milestone is not currently working.  Hopefully I will have the patience to figure it out by tomorrow…stay tuned.

Our Rockstar Relative

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 5:03 pm

Jon and I know a rockstar. His name is Nate, and he is our brother-in-law.

Nate is an incredible musician; not to mention an awesome husband and father. Nate is the lead singer for a band called Martyrs and Poets. They have had songs on shows such as Criminal Minds, MTV’s Road Rules, and Kyle XY. Nate has promised me that WHEN Martyrs and Poets opens for U2, he will bring me backstage to meet Bono (don’t ever forget that Nate)! :-)

Today we got Nate’s new cd in the mail (thanks Nate and Jess), and now I can show-off his music on my blog. The track that is playing, Lullaby, is a song that Nate wrote for his son Gavin (one of the cutest kids you’ve ever seen).

The red room

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 7:52 pm

While I was back in Colorado, Jon painted our dining room a really nice shade of red.  He also hung some curtains for me.  I know, I know….a garden, painting….I’m spoiled!

My own little garden

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 7:03 pm

I am yet to find a good farmer’s market here; so I finally had to take matters into my own hands and plant my own little garden.  Ok, ok, so Jon planted the garden for me…isn’t that what husbands are for?!  :-)

When in doubt

“God is too wise not to know all about us, and what is really best for us to be, and to have. And He is too good, not to desire our highest good; and too powerful, desiring, not to effect it. If, then, what He has appointed for us does not seem to us the best, or even to be good, our true course is to remember that He sees further than we do, and that we shall understand Him in time, when His plans have unfolded themsevles; meanwhile casting all our care upon Him, since He careth for us.”

We made it

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari @ 11:04 pm

Irelynd and I made it back to Texas in one piece. I can’t brag about Irelynd’s behavior on the plane, but she sure was thrilled to see her daddy when she got off the plane! We even made it home in time for the season premier of Grey’s Anatomy…love it!!!
